The Gothic styles of the Valencia Cathedral and the La Lonja de la Seda de Valencia (the old silk exchange building which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site) draw large crowds. The area opposite this is the bustling Mercado central, still a thriving marketplace despite being one of the oldest in Europe. Also in the Gothic style, the Palacio Del Marques De Dos Aguas is a former palace with Baroque additions, including a beautifully detailed entrance.

There are also a wide range of museums in the city that cater for all tastes. The Museo de Bellas Artes (Museum of Fine Arts) is a spectacular Baroque building housing art dating from the 14th to the 19th centuries. In contrast, Spain's first centre for modern art, the Institut ValenciĆ  d'Art Modern is home to a diverse mixture of installations and pieces from more contemporary times.
