Car Hire Lanzarote (ACE)

Situated just 79 miles off the coast of Africa, Lanzarote is the most easterly of the Canary Islands. As with Tenerife, Lanzarote is a year round destination, though with less rainfall it is much drier and often described as having a ‘lunar landscape’.

Arrecife airport is just 10 mins away from the capital of the same name, and is very close to the popular resort of Puerto del Carmen. Much smaller and less developed than Tenerife, Lanzarote still offers a wide range of accommodation options – and thankfully none of them high-rise.

Most of the activities on the island revolve around the coast, so despite its small size, hiring a car is still the best way to travel around Lanzarote. Windsurfing is extremely popular, particularly on the Costa Teguise, which draws international enthusiasts; and despite its volcanic nature, Lanzarote has a number of white sandy beaches such as Playa Blanca, Papagayo and Caleton Blanco where you can soak up the sun.

Other highlights include the Timanfaya National Park, with its field of steaming geysers jets and volcanic peaks, El Golfo, or the gulf, a sea-level crater where algae in the water turns the sea a jade green, and Jameos del Agua, a remarkable gallery of interconnecting caves and grottoes which can be viewed with a tour guide.

Lanzarote offers a much more relaxed holiday destination, that encourages you to take your time when out and about. Hiring a car from AurigaCrown will get you to some of the beautiful attractions on the island, and help you get the most from your stay.
