The capital of the Spanish region of Andalucia, the ancient city of Sevilla, is famed for its spectacular architecture and vibrant cultural history, including flamenco dancing, bull fighting and is reputedly the home of Tapas. Previously home to the Romans, Moors and Castilians, Sevillians are known for their wit and outlook on life, while the city itself is famous for its vitality and flamboyance.

The Cathedral is the world’s largest gothic cathedral, built using elements of the original Mosque that stood on the site. La Giralda bell tower was originally a minaret, and climbing the steps of the tower offers brave climbers spectacular views across the city, and is the burial place of Christopher Columbus. The Alcazar, a royal Mudejar palace with beautiful gardens, is Europe’s oldest royal palace still in use today, and is one of Spain’s many UNESCO world heritage sites.
Arguably the best way to experience the tradition of tapas is to tour the streets of Sevilla, where it’s reputed that there are over 4000 tapas bars dedicated to the traditional cuisine, making it a must-visit destination for anyone touring Andalucia.
